Therapy that does more than talk.
Structured, skills-based care for emotion dysregulation, OCD, eating disorders, and complex symptoms
Many people come to therapy already knowing a lot about themselves. They understand where their symptoms come from. They can describe their history clearly. They have done the work of showing up and talking things through.
And yet, their daily life is still shaped by symptoms.
Compulsions take hours. Eating disorder thoughts dominate meals and relationships. Emotions spike fast and feel hard to slow down. Urges show up in the middle of the week and derail what matters most.
Traditional talk therapy can bring insight and connection, but it often stops short of helping people change what happens when symptoms actually hit. Intention Psychological Services was built for people who want care that is compassionate and structured, supportive and practical.
People deserve a clear plan.
When therapy focuses only on insight, clients often leave sessions feeling calmer, then struggle again once the week begins. They know why they feel the way they do, but not what to do when symptoms show up.
You want therapy that is structured, skills-based, and grounded in research.
Treatment begins with a clear assessment and shared goals. From there, we build a plan that fits the person, not a generic protocol. Sessions focus on learning and practicing specific skills, then applying them in daily life.
Skills-based, evidence-backed therapy
Clear plans in plain language
Practice between sessions
Progress tracking and plan adjustments
Depending on your needs, treatment is grounded in cognitive-behavioral approaches that are well supported by research. This may include exposure and response prevention (ERP) for OCD, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) strategies, or dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) when emotion regulation, safety, or relationship patterns are central to the work.
These approaches share a focus on understanding how thoughts, emotions, and behavior interact, and on practicing new responses in real-life situations. Progress is tracked in clear, practical ways so we can adjust the plan when something is not helping.
“Therapy here is an active process. We teach. We practice. We review what happened during the week. And we revise the plan until it works in the real world.”
— Dr. Andie Murray
